SCBSFM.COM -- A novice gold prospector in southern Australia found a whooping five kilograms of golden nugget using a metal detector. Lump of gold was estimated to be worth more than U.S. $ 315 thousand.
The gold digger claimed a very loud sound created by his metal detector which is Minelab GPX-5000, when detecting a golden nugget about 60 centimeters underground near the city of Ballarat, State of Victoria, on Wednesday (16/1).
The exact location of his lucrative find aren’t known at the moment but according to The Courier the 12 pound gold nugget was brought into the Ballarat Mining Exchange Gold Shop which is located 110 kilometers from Melbourne, in order to be evaluated.
