Mentawai Earthquake is Predicted as Long as One Month

Jakarta - Aftershocks are expected to continue to occur in Mentawai, West Sumatra, following the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred yesterday evening. Aftershocks expected to occur during the month.

"The earthquake will continue to occur in the Mentawai," said the head of the Earthquake and Land Movement of Volcano and Disaster Mitigation (PVMG) I Gede Swantika on Wednesday (26/10/2010).

7.2 magnitude earthquakes struck the Mentawai at 21:40 pm, Monday (25/10). The earthquake caused the tsunami in the Mentawai region. Reach 3 meters high waves that swept the region on the coastline.

Victims of the tsunami that reached 113 people were killed and 150 others were missing.
