This was announced by State Secretary Sudi Silalahi in Hanoi, Vietnam, Tuesday (26/10/2010) night. His statement was the result of teleconference coordination meeting between President Yudhoyono to vice president and Coordinating Minister Agung Laksono.
"The President has given instructions to the vice president and the ministers concerned, as well as the BNPB immediately take emergency measures," said Sudi.
Emergency response priorities are rescue and evacuation of victim’s tsunami wave. Including the deployment of logistics operations to support emergency response operations, the handling of refugees and health equipment.
According to Sudi, the vice president and Welfare Agung Laksono will review the conditions in the Mentawai. Both were scheduled to depart from Jakarta on Wednesday (27/10) morning and report the results to the President of the evening.
"Number of dead and missing has not been ascertained. Because it is communication with the Mentawai, has not been able to walk," Sudi said.
More he said that President Yudhoyono expressed his deep condolences to the people of Mentawai and the slopes of Mount Merapi were affected. Neither was injured, families of those killed and the refugees.
"President Yudhoyono said its deepest condolences over the casualties it caused by natural disasters which occurred on Mount Merapi and the Mentawai," he said.
The main agenda of President SBY in Hanoi is to take place during the ASEAN Summit. Yudhoyono is scheduled to hold bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister, Prime Minister of New Zealand, Prime Minister of China, South Korean President and President of the Philippines.
According to schedule, the President was in Hanoi till October 31, 2010. Previous SBY working visit in China to attend the opening of the Shanghai International Trade Expo.
