“Sang Pemimpi” Awarded for Achievement in Film Festival Madrid

SCBSFM.com - The film 'Sang Pemimpi” means “The Dreamer' has grown in prominence overseas film festivals. The movie directed by Mira Lesmana and Riri Riza, was awarded in Film Festival in the International Children and Youth which was held in Madrid, Spain.

However, Mira and Lesmana could not attend the award which done on November 20. It’s due to their busy schedules, with their musical theater 'Laskar Pelangi' project. Their presence is represented by the main star Lukman Sardi.

"Lukman who receive the rewards," said Mira on Tuesday (23/11/2010).

This is not the first time 'Sang Pemimpi” shine in the international arena. Previously, they had won an award at the Singapore International Film Festival and at the Udine Far East International Film Festival in Italy.

Mira reveals why she was diligent to include her films to film festivals abroad. The main reasin is she wanted to introduce Indonesia to the world through these films.

"We interact with the audience while introducing the portrait of the life of the people of Indonesia to the audience," she explained.

Mira admitted quite satisfied with the achievements of “Sang Pemimpi”. Moreover, the number of viewers the film adaptation of the novel by Andrea Hirata was already past the target.

"The last has reached 2.5 million viewers. Our target of 2 million at the time," she concluded.
